BALE STORM BLOWS BURNLEY AWAY

WE’VE MISSED THIS

Gareth Bale reminded Spurs fans and supporters alike of why he is still a galactico and a World class player. The Welsh captain gave a fine display as the star shone brightest at the Tottenham Stadium against Burnley. This is the type of performance we have all missed and have been dreaming about ever since he made his return to the Premier League (it was definitely worth the wait).

Bale had been showing glimpses of his quality and everything seems to now be gelling together as his fitness improves. I get a feeling that the fitter he becomes the better the output and Bale at 100% is almost unstoppable (yes I said it!). There are not many defenders in the league that can cope with the talented Welshman even as he approaches the twilight of his career. Mourinho will be wrapping him up in cotton wool and thanking his lucky star that Bale is finally delivering what we all know he is more than capable of doing.

In a must win game for the home side, Spurs wasted no time as they looked to replicate last season’s result. Bale opened the scoring as he latched on to Son’s through ball to put Tottenham ahead in just 60 seconds of play. Spurs looked a lot sharper than they had done in their previous premier league matches. They continued to attack Burnley as both Kane and Moura had good opportunities to increase the lead. However, Kane found the net in the 15th minute albeit via a deflection to put Tottenham 2-0 up. Moura added a third in the 31st minute with a fine finish inside the box before man of the match Bale rounded off the goals with a typical Bale esque finish cutting inside on his left foot and finding the back of the net. The game finished 4-0 to Spurs and in all honesty it could easily have been more.

The win leaves Spurs with 39 points in the table and with a game in hand. They travel away to Fulham on Thursday and will be hoping for a similar display. The victory was enough to bring a rare smile to the face of manager Mourinho who has endured some difficult challenges as far as results go this season. However with Bale now looking like his former self and Dele Alli also gradually getting back up to speed, Spurs have plenty to look forward too (I certainly was entertained by the dynamic trio of Kane, Son and Bale).

North London rivals Arsenal, also now seem to have turned a corner as they came from behind to earn 3 valuable points. The Gunners were away to Leicester as they sought to now progress in the league and place themselves in contention for the top 6 spots. Leicester City took the early lead through Tielemans in the 6th minute. However, Luiz levelled for the away side in the 39th minute before Lacazette converted a penalty in injury time to give Arsenal a 2-1 lead going into the break. During the second half, Pepe added another goal to guarantee the Gunners all 3 points as the match ended 3-1 to Arsenal.

The Chelsea and Manchester United game ended in a goalless draw. I though that game was a bit of a snooze fest and the result pretty much sums up the match. Meanwhile, Manchester City are looking on course to win the league as Guardiola’s team increased their lead at the top of the summit to 12 points as they were victorious in their 2-1 home win against West Ham. The Hammers did give a good account in the match and City didn’t always have it all their own way. I can’t actually believe West Ham are in the top 4 and are just 12 games away from qualifying for the champions league (I’m still pinching myself…..WEST HAM!! nah I’ve got to be dreaming hahaha!!). Credit to David Moyes for the great work he’s delivering.

WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG???!!!!
