Is there a glimmer of hope?
As Spurs prepare for their all-important game against Crystal Palace, they find themselves in a position not too dissimilar from the previous season. However, the disparity in circumstance is very clear and obvious for all to see.
Last season, Tottenham were woeful and quite literally undid the positive work established since the Pochettino era. With that said, they had a manager in Ange Postecoglou who was in his second season, and therefore able to navigate Spurs to premier league safety whilst also winning the UEFA Europa League. Unfortunately for Ange, this feat and momentary success wasn’t good enough to save him from the inevitable sacking based on (one would assume) premier league form. Also, Spurs had talisman, club legend and highly influential captain Heung Min Son.
In this season, Spurs have sacked Ange’s managerial replacement Thomas Frank. He was unable to galvanise the squad with fresh impetus and the performances on-field have gone from bad to worse nothing short of poor (it’s no wonder the Spurs faithful were calling for him to be sacked and rightly so). A manager that was hired to provide stability and build on the fragmented successes of the previous season, has unfortunately failed miserably.
Tottenham find themselves still in the last 16 of the champions league and will be desperate to succeed. They travel to Atletico Madrid for their first leg tie. Whilst this season mirrors the previous, it is very difficult to fathom that this particular crop of players have the guile and minerals to conquer Europe’s best assembled Teams and win the champions league. If the stars align and they won the competition, that achievement would be massively celebrated in North London, no doubt. However, fantasy and reality are polar opposites. The reality for Tottenham is that they are in a relegation dog-fight and 4 points from safety.
In an effort to rescue a failing and disappointing season, Spurs appointed Igor Tudor, a manager that lacks managerial pedigree and premier league experience. They have put the entire fate of the club in a manager who is unproven anywhere. The Tottenham supporters and fans alike will obviously have expectations to survive the drop but it will be very difficult and with Igor Tudor at the helm, one cannot be filled with too much confidence, respectfully.

Spurs in desperate trouble!!!!
