The weekend’s action kicked off with Newcastle’s trip to Cardiff City where they were held to a goalless draw. With both team searching for their first win of the season it was honours even and a share of the points. Everton enjoyed their second win of the season winning 2-1 against Southampton. Richarlison is proving to be one of the buys of this campaign as he netted again for the Toffees.
Man City were at it again with another emphatic win. Aguero scored a hat-trick for City as they bulldozed their way to a comfortable 6-1 win against Huddersfield. Aguero is now the second player in Premier League History (behind the great Alan Shearer) to have scored the most hat-tricks in the league. City’s closest rival (at this stage anyway) Liverpool, missed chances in their game against a stubborn Palace defence. However, with the ever reliable Mane in the side Liverpool won the match 2-0.
The London derby game between Chelsea and Arsenal has to be the match of the weekend. Chelsea came out attacking and were rewarded for their endeavour as they went two goals ahead. However, the Gunners fought back and with the match tied at 2-2 Alonso after great work from Hazard ensured Chelsea won the game 3-2. The result could have turned out different had Arsenal converted their chances (that’s 2 loses hahaha!!!). On the other side of London Spurs were entertaining Fulham at Wembley as Harry Kane finally ended his August Hoodoo and helped Spurs to a deserved 3-1 victory.
The shock of the weekend came as Man United were defeated by Brighton (I still can’t believe it). Brighton took an early lead and were ahead by 3 goals to 1 before half time. The game ended 3-2 to Brighton and the rumour mill has already started spinning. I think it’s a little to soon for talks of the Special One getting the sack……but this is football and stranger things have happened.
Aguero nets yet another hat-trick for City!!
