Liverpool out of the blocks

Season Opener

Finally, the season kicked off on Friday with Manchester United taking on Leicester to mark the return of the Premier League and football fans were not disappointed. The red devils proved to be too strong for Leicester and went a goal ahead when Pogba (and his new hairstyle) converted from the spot kick with  Luke Shaw adding a second in the 83rd minute. Vardy grabbed a consolation late on but not enough to muster a draw.

Spurs saw off Newcastle with a 2-1 victory away from home (although I spent the weekend listening to people tell me how lucky spurs were). A Dele Alli   header ensured Spurs walked away with 3 points. New boys, Wolves impressed with a 2-2 draw against Everton and I have to say they’ve got an absolute baller in Neves (what a player).

It was business as usual for Chelsea who started off with a 3-0 win over Huddersfield as they began life without Conte and Courtois. You have to feel for Arsenal and Emery (nah I’m kidding) who had the unfortunate task of taking on the super mighty current champions Manchester City. City made light work of the gunners with a comfortable 2-0 win (Raheem Stirling amongst the goals).

However, the stand out performance of the opening weekend has to be Liverpool. What an emphatic display of power and pace. Liverpool showcased some of their summer signings and fans weren’t disappointed. Goals from Salah, Mane and Sturridge saw Liverpool claim an impressive 4-0 victory over West Ham.

Let’s be honest, you know you’re having a bad day when Sturridge gets on the score sheet (hehehe!!!). With Alisson between the sticks and Keita running the midfield Liverpool seem to have addressed their issues. Talks of them winning the league may be too soon (remember, there are still 37 games to go).

Mane

Mane nets his 2nd for Liverpool!!
