Finished Business
With the transfer window now closed and business finalised in the English Premier League, there were a few surprises even I wasn’t prepared for. In previous seasons we witnessed the likes of Man City, Man Utd and Liverpool splash the cash to attract some of the best players in the world (not to mention breaking records along the way).
So what happened in the summer of 2018?
Well, lets start with the mother of all shockers. Spurs, who will be playing in their new stadium failed to make any transfer signings in the window (I know, I know) making them the first club since 2003 not to bring in talent. There was interest in the likes of Grealish and Zaha but not enough to get a deal done.
Man City brought in Mahrez from Leicester whilst United added Fred to their squad. Liverpool appear to have done the best bit of business as they strengthened an already impressive squad. The acquisition of goalkeeper Alisson, Keita and Shaqiri shows they are ready to challenge for the title this season.
Arsenal too were busy in the market as were the likes of Everton and Newcastle. In fact, the whole league did some business aside from Spurs. The Spurs Manager Pochettino, claims Brexit affected their lack of activity within the window (now that is funny). Nevertheless the Spurs go marching on………
